HOW TO MOISTURIZE BLACK NATURAL HAIR

One of the most important step for black natural hair is making sure that it is properly moisturized. This is critical to the retention and growth of the hair. Being that black hair is fragile and break easily, there should be great care in keeping it moisturized and conditioned.

There are various ways to obtain this to keep hair healthy, and glowing. The hair is to be nurtured and treated daily. First, let me begin by saying that water is the best moisturizer for black hair-- Yes WATER! Black hair is dry and it loves water regardless of the myths that has be scaling around black hair. Also, unefined shea butter mixes are the best moisturizers for black hair.More info on shea butter recipes can be found at www.mynaturalhairplace.com

Now let me tell you that, shampooing the hair with sulfate shampoos are a no-no. If you use shampoos, then try to buy them without sulfates. You can also co-wash the hair, which is washing the hair with conditioner only just as you would a shampoo. Simply saturate the hair with water and pour a generous amount of a creamy conditioner into the hand and massage into the hair. Repeat this about twice and seal the water in with a moisturizer such as shea butter, an oil based leave in, or a mix of your own natural and essential oils. Co-washing can be done every day or every other day being that it is conditioning the hair. This does not include protein conditioners as it can dry out the hair. When the hair is in need of a good protein conditioner, a good mayonnaise mix is good.

Finally, make sure that you keep your hair moisturize even if it means getting a spray bottle and mixing a litlle of natural vegetable glycerine and water into a spray bottle to apply after you shower. Remeber, the best moisturizer for black hair is one of the main natural resources-WATER!

You share some good information here. My bi-racial nieces have dry hair that has been difficult to properly hydrate. I will try some of your advice here.
